From personal experience, choosing a bar stool for a kitchen counter space is harder than it seems!
A quick rule of thumb to keep in mind is to allow for 10 to 12 inches of space between the bottom of the table or bar and the top of the barstool chair seat.
Anything less than 10 inches and the stool will be too high to be used properly. You might also want to consider an adjustable bar stool that can be custom adjusted to the user as needed.
