Dale Tiffany DragonFly Table LampTiffany lamps and lighting fixtures represent a classic American style. Popularized by artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany in the late 1890s, these lamps feature brightly colored pieces of opalescent glass.

In the production process, the pattern for the lamp is drawn out and colored glass is cut into the correct shapes. Geometric shapes, flowers, dragonflies and nature are all classic and popular patterns. The glass edges are then cleaned and wrapped with a copper foil. This "copper foil method" helps the glass pieces adhere together when solder is applied.

When you rap your fingers on a Tiffany lamp glass shade, a muffled sound is produced, leading many people to falsely assume that the panels are plastic and not glass. The sound is the result of the copper foil technique and the solder - the same techniques used one-hundred years ago!
