I bought this fan because my wife liked the look of it in the store. Indeed this fan looks great in appearance once you finish installing it.
But that's all about it. I installed it in the indoor living room, at the center of the ceiling. My house doesn't have any vaulted ceiling. The instruction for installation was short and not detailed enough. However, if you are somewhat of a DIY type person you should be able to figure it out. We live in Texas where the heat gets pretty intense (triple digits) for a good 3-4 months of summer. So having a fan in the house is not just for show but for a real purpose, to drive air convection. And that's where this fan falls short, far short. It has variable speed control but even at its highest rotational speed it barely moves air and you may not feel any draft even when standing directly under it. I have bought other fans, for kids' rooms that are one third the price of this one and yet those can blow a storm in your room at their top speed.
Next comes light. The fan comes with provision for filament type candelabra bulbs with total wattage not to exceed 75Watt. For a living room, that can be pretty darn dim for some cases. The remote transceiver is NOT compatible for CFL type light bulbs that are so common these days. So after a year of living with such poor illumination, I bought a CFL compatible Universal remote controller from a Home improvement type store. After replacing the OEM transceiver with this generic one, I could at least put low powered but brighter CFL bulbs instead and get more light out of this system. But the low air draft still is the problem. So bottom line, this is a modern looking showpiece of a rotating device that will enhance the aesthetic appearance of your living space (that's why giving 2 Star) but if you are also interested in a fan that gives comfort of a good draft, then this is NOT your machine at all.

This is a beautiful fan. It was easy to install and was balance perfectly. I big plus for me was it is able to mount flush because my cielings are not very high. This thing is super quiet. You can hear a mouse [*] on a cotton ball in the next room with this thing on. It is a moderate circulator of air, it doesn't feel like you are in a wind tunnel. I would buy this fan again and again. I have had it for a month now. Well worth the price.

Relatively easy to mount. The only difficult part is to fit the wireless receiver and all cables including the wirenuts in the box when mounting it.
It uses 3 candelabra fittings, which makes it harder and a bit more expensive to find suitable (i.e. dimmable) energy efficient bulbs.

Great Kitchen fan with an enclosed light globe that seals bulbs which make it easy to clean. The bulbs sometimes get very hot causing light to shut off for safety reasons.

The installation of the receiver module requires that some of the dowmrod parts attached be removed. It wont mount to the hanger bracket without doing so. Therefore the instructions were a little vague in this area.

It is installed in my living room (done by a professional, I'm all thumbs) and looks absolutely gorgeous.

Casa Vieja fan looks great, contemporary looking, used at more than 12 hours a day, however after a year and a half of use,
the quietness of this fan changed to noisy clicking sounds. Called customer service, I was told to call the store, when i called the store, they want me to bring the fan since it's out of the warranty period. I haven't use the fan for over 6 months now. It was worth the first 1 1/2 years but not after that.
Lamps Plus Response:
Hello "Just Belle" --
We appreciate your feedback, and we're sorry to hear you're getting some clicking sounds that are bugging you.
Our technical staff suggested checking to see that all screws are nice and tight. It's a good thing to check the screws periodically
as part of normal maintenance.
Hopefully that will help. If not, or if you want any further assistance, please call our customer service department at 800-782-1967.

I live in the desert and have forced air. The air stagnates on whichever side of the house the sun is on and develops temperature gradients. During summer I run the fans lifting the cold air up to circulate it. During winter I run the fans pushing the hot air down off the high ceiling. They run 24 hours a day on whatever setting keeps things comfortable.

Purchased for large master bedroom with sloped cathedral ceiling. Fan was installed by an electrician. Looks great, works well and is very quiet. Had two other fans purchased at [...] installed at the same time in guest rooms also sloped cathedral ceilings. Fans from HD wobble and make a clicking noise as well as vibration noise. Have purchased two more of these fans to replace the HD ones which are going back to HD. It is worth spending a little more money for a quality fan.

We had an electrician install this ceiling fan from our 12 ft ceiling. It is as lovely as the picture and the 3 speeds work great. I just love pushing a button to start it rather than pulling a chain, the remote is mounted on the wall. The light is not as bright as we need in our living room but we have other lighting that makes up for it. We love it and are thinking about buying another.

Very nice fan. I had a handyman install our fan, so I am unsure if it is difficult to install. I have only had the fan installed for a month, but so far, it seems as though it was the most cost-efficient, clean-lined, modern ceiling fan on the market. One nice aspect is the light brightens slowly (only takes 1-2 seconds) when turned on, keeping your eyes from needing to suddenly adjust. The only negative aspect I have found is that you have to hold the buttons down on the remote for a long time (1-2 seconds) to switch the speeds.

Two of us had a very difficult time installing this fan, but it was more my ceiling's fault, not the fan. The directions were frustrating. It doesn't tell you to remove all screws and rods if installing hugger style. It took us a long time to figure out something was blocking the install. A lot of the screws are in place already and not in baggies, so we spent time looking for screws that were already in place. It's quiet and circulates the air well. I wish the reverse was not on the remote where you could easily press when the fan is on.
