May upgrade to 5 stars once installed and in use. Love the look so far.
I have had this lamp almost a year and it has worked perfectly. It goes really well in my study and I love the dimmable light. The knob that controls the light however is in a somewhat awkward spot for me to reach, but I am accustomed to it now. One note of caution: This lamp is very heavy and needs strong anchors. About six months after installing this lamp, I came down one morning to find that the lamp had come loose from the wall during the night and fallen onto my desk. However, it was unbroken and still worked fine and we were able to reinstall it using heavier duty anchors. Good purchase!
Love the modern design and the fact that the arm extends.
these lights were easy to install and are very attractive. they give off a nice soft light and are dimmable too!
This light is perfect for nighttime reading in bed.
Dimmer switch is located on the wall plate ( not on the socket at the lamp shade) and the switch on that plate is too close to the swing arm to be easily used...especially if you have big hands. I wanted to use these as bed side lamps, but it is a nusicance to have to get out of bed to reach the wall to turn them off, so I relocated them to my living room.
My husband runs a large home renovations firm (www.sjreno.com), so we see our fair share of electrical materials. While these are plug n play type lights, the mountain hardware provided is flimsy relative to the weight of the lamps. This causes the weight of the lamp to bend the hardware and away from the wall. The screws provided are too long for the box, and require modification otherwise the caps won't fit. So - while I find them pretty, the overall quality is poor and will require modification to ensure they last.
Swing arm frees up a lot of space on the end table. Dimmer allows for just the right amount of light for reading.
We use these as reading lamps over our bed, and, thanks to the movable swing-arms and the dimmers, they are perfect for that use. They are also quite attractive, and the quality construction & materials make a graceful impression.
This is a beautiful lamp, but is quite heavy, though apparently intended to be hung on drywall. Unfortunately, the mounting hardware and provided instructions are inadequate. First of all, the anchors provided are mismatched for the weight of the lamp. Behind my beautiful new lamp base is a honeycomb of holes drilled during this anchoring process. Get your own anchors!! Second, the screws extending out of the wall plate are too long. After conversing with customer service, you have to drill two MORE holes to accommodate the heads of these screws. Third, one mounting screw MUST go in a round hole on the wall plate (versus a slot) so that the wall plate and lamp doesn't rotate once the shade is put on. Lastly, the instructions did not provide these steps, which were absolutely REQUIRED to hang this heavy lamp. They had to be self-discovered in a process that turned a 15-minute installation into a much longer affair. I also agree with other reviews that the placement of the on/off dial is in a poor position. I love the lamp but felt that adequate hardware and instructions could have made installation MUCH MUCH easier. And now I see it is on SALE with free shipping makes me even more frustrated with my experience!!!!
Mounting hardware included with lamp is ridiculously inadequate. Wall bracket uses slotted holes for mounting. When the weight of the glass shade is placed on it, or it is extended, the cantilevered weight will rotate the mounting plate. Instructions are laughable. "No special tools required" "Step 1: Mount backing plate to wall." That's it for 'step 1.' 2 Hours later, bracket was redrilled and mounted to stud using newly purchased hardware. Don't even think of mounting using the included hardware. this is too heavy to mount in drywall only, and the included screws are too light and too soft to use. It's a beautiful design, but the poor quality of the supporting components makes me question the quality of the shade and arms. Time will tell how it holds up.
We hung one on each side of the bed in master bedroom -- they look great, glass matches the ceiling fan light in color, and the dimmable feature is very nice.
[...]. It was a fantastic buy. I bought the only two available and will put them in my small lighting store and resell them. The light was perfect and subtle.
The anchor screws weren't quite long enough. After replacing those, it worked very well.
It needs an extra ring to hide metal mounting ring. Somewhat difficult to get it hang flush with wall. The mounting design needs work to make it easier and to hang flush with wall. Overall we love the lamps. The are beautiful and so much to the room.
