People often overlook buying mirrors for their children's rooms. That's unfortunate, because children are fascinated with mirrors.
A great trick is to put a mirror on the wall near a changing table to keep the baby busy while you're changing them. The National Science and Technology Centre in Australia has also has some great games you can play with older children and mirrors.
We recently added a really fun selection of kids' room mirrors with light weight plastic frames.
Update To Post 7/24/2014: We apologize, but this category of mirrors are no longer available. Shop our wide selection of mirrors here.
We love these portable LED book lights from Mighty Bright. They're great for students, late night readers, camping and more.
Mighty Bright also makes non-LED book lights in the same candy-colored hues.
These make the perfect stocking stuffers for Christmas!

Many of us have recessed lighting in our homes or apartments. If you want to make them less plain, add a new plastic trim ring to get a more sophisticated look.
These designs have been featured in Country Home magazine and come in several different patterns. A snap to install, you can leave recessed lighting trim the crisp white or paint to match your ceiling color.
The Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) is a voluntary partnership between leaders of the homebuilding industries and representatives of Federal agencies concerned with housing.
They recently released their PATH Remodeling Top 10 home projects to make homes more energy efficient. On the list, rightly so, is the use of compact fluorescent lighting.
What often gets overlooked, however, is the use of CFL lighting outdoors. With shorter daylight hours at this time of the year, outdoor lighting is left on more hours a day for both security and decoration.
Using an ENERGY STAR rated outdoor lighting or switching to CFL bulbs in outdoor fixtures can make a world of difference in your outdoor lighting energy usage.
The BlissLight Starfield Projector (no longer available) is a light box that projects out a laser-powered moving starfield. (Shop projectors here.)
You can swivel the unit to aim at a wall or ceiling and even add a nebula cloud effect at the twist of a knob! It's very easy to use - just plug it in and enjoy.
Check out this demonstration video posed on YouTube to get a feel for how it works...we want one!
In addition to being the creative vision behind the Dick Idol lighting and home decor collection, Dick Idol is also one of America's best-known authentic outdoorsman and wildlife artists.
We found this online video of his most recent commission for the North Carolina State University Wolfpack Club, a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for NCSU student-athletes.
The almost 30-foot tall bronze monument includes six wolves on a mountain with dramatic water, lighting, and audio effects. Impressive, though the High Country table lamp might make a better fit for your living room!
Here's the YouTube link to the NC State Wolfpack Statue video.
Fluorescent light bulbs, including CFL bulbs, contain a very small amount of mercury sealed within the glass tubing. If the bulb breaks, the EPA recommends the following procedure to properly clean-up and dispose of the bulb.
If properly recycled, 100 percent of the mercury in a fluorescent or CFL bulb is reusable! Want to learn more? Read this ENERGY STAR star FAQ sheet on CFLs (in PDF form) or these EPA cleanup guidelines. Or find a CFL recycling center near you.
