Designer Candice Olson takes on a dated kitchen and gives it a divine makeover. We especially like the pair of antique style chandeliers and ceiling medallions.
Read about it in the Minneapolis Star Tribune: Divine Design: Kitchen now reflects personal style.

California Home+Design has an inside look at Diane Keaton's renovated home in Beverly Hills.
Full of traditional fixtures, wrought iron accents and beautiful woodwork, the home is a wonderful example of L.A.'s Spanish Colonial Revival style of architecture.
Built back in the1920's, the property is on the market now for the (reduced) price of $10.95 million. My check would still bounce!

Need lighting power that's easy to install? This plug-in style double LED wall light should do the trick. Hang it over a desk (as pictured) for reading, or place it over a bedside table or bed headboard.
The lights can be individually controlled and all you have to do to install it is to mount it on the wall and plug into the nearest standard outlet. The design is from the trend-setting Possini Euro lighting collection.

I enjoyed a recent pictorial on Design*Sponge of a teeny, tiny house in Culver City, CA. It's just 520 square feet. I'll bet many of you have one room in your house that's bigger!!
Takes me back to one of my first apartments .....
Decorating small spaces takes lots of creativity, flexibility, and there's little room for error (ha!). Dual-purpose pieces are key, and everything -- from lighting to wall art -- has to be scaled down so as not to overpower petite rooms.

A fellow in Germany named Edo Kriegsmann posted the first installment of "Interactive Furniture" to his new YouTube channel. It's called "Automatic LED Stairway Lighting." The weight of one's footsteps turns on the integrated lighting keeping things safe for all involved.
Another wonderful utilization of LED technology.
Can't wait to see Mr. Kriegsmann's next project!

The nursery is one of the most exciting rooms to decorate. Speaking from experience, it's a blast creating a space for baby.
Ohdeedoh is a fantastic blog which specializes in kids' spaces, so we were thrilled to see our White Flower Pendant Light in a recent feature on a reader's nursery.
If you want Ohdeedoh to feature your nursery, here's the submission form. If you have anything in your nursery from LAMPS PLUS, be sure let them know! If your nursery is featured, let us know we'll post it here, too.

Patrick Paul McLynn is one of the talented painters behind our exclusive art shade patterns. Each of these patterns is hand-painted and requires many hours to complete. Once done they are used as the basis for giclee printed shades and other products. Here's Patrick on his art:
Q: How long have you been painting?
A: Well, really ever since I was a child! I've always loved art and have been professionaly painting for over 40 years.
Q: Do you do all the color mixing yourself?
A: Yes. I love playing with the rainbow of colors available and creating just the right color hue for each piece. A painting may require dozens and dozens of color combinations.
Q: How much work goes into painting each canvas template?
A: It all depends on the subject, style and so on. Some of the more invloved pieces can take up to a week or more. The figurative pieces are much more involved than say an abstract or modern style.
Q: On what products are the painted templates used?
A: The paintings are scanned, then used for a wide range of giclee art shade products; giclee clip-on chandelier lamp shades, pendant chandeliers, art shade table lamps, ceiling medallions...they're constantly adding new products! It's fun to see what they show up on.
Q: What are you working on now?
A: At the moment I'm working on ceiling medallion patterns. The pattern in the photo below is a red corral design that has a coastal-tropical feel. Look for it online soon!
