Welcome to 2011 and Happy New Year! To get you started, HGTV has unveiled their newest dream home. Located in the mountain ski resort town of Stowe, Vermont, the plan of the home was inspired by the nineteenth-century resort architecture in the area.
Despite the rustic lodge style, the home has many contemporary - transitional touches, and the architect and designers have made some bold and unusual choices when it came to lighting the home.
The casual family room (above) mixes natural wood tones and neutral fabrics with big pops of bright green color. The contemporary table lamps and the swing arm floor lamp in the bar area at the far end of the room provide sleek lighting.
The upstairs dining room has a fantastic view. The designers have used large, glass bowl pendant chandeliers over a clean-lined dining table. Not sure about the use of the contemporary desk chairs, but they would be comfortable to sit in and admire the view!
If you have a large room space such as this dining room, you might consider using an outdoor hanging fixture instead of a traditional chandelier. For example, the Owings Mill Outdoor Hanging Light by Troy Lighting (above) offers a similar glass and candelabra look to the Dream Home chandelier, but with a more rustic tone.
More great views from the master bath. A simple, traditional style chandelier hangs high overhead.
The Robert Sonneman Heirloom Chandelier has a similar look in a bath-friendly polished nickel finish.
The grand, barn-style garage uses similar chandeliers hung high overhead. I've never seen the use of chandeliers in a garage setting, but I kind of like it!

Zum - let us know if you win. We want to visit! Thanks for the comment!
Maybe it would look much better and classy sophisticated if there's a fireplace on it.. That's something that I could no longer see in most high rise condominiums now..
Jessie - That's a good observation. I believe the home does have a fireplace. It's located just off the main seating - dining room. I just didn't grab one of the shots that highlighted it! Thanks for the comment!
