One distinct design trend spotted at Toronto's Interior Design Show is ostentatious lighting, and I love this shift towards lighting becoming the design centerpiece and spotlight in a room. Here's how dictionary.com defines ostentatious:

1.characterized by or given to pretentious or conspicuous show in an attempt to impress others: an ostentatious dresser.
