Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased 4 of these bulbs for starting seedlings indoors in mid January. My set up required 2 bulbs and luckily I bought 2 spares as the first 2 have already burned out. Assuming that they were on for 15 hours a day for the last month, that comes to approximately 450 hours which is far below the advertised 2000 hours average life expectancy.
