Great fan for living room that is left on all the time!
We use the fans in the summer for cool air and in the winter to circulate the warm air.
Wish it had a regular base size light bulb that would provide more light.
The Casa Habitat fans look great in my bedrooms and they're so quiet. Can't wait for summer to return so I can enjoy them. The only improvement I can think of is to make the hole in the middle of the mounting plate where the wires go through just a bit bigger so it's easier to push the wires and wire nuts through. If you're thinking about getting this fan, you won't be disappointed.
I use mine in the back room of the house where my home office is. If I have anything else going on, like music, or even my desktop computer, I don't hear the fan. However, if am reading in an otherwise quiet room, I can hear the thrumming of the fan. My fan also had a bad 9 pin power plug, which I jury rigged to make work, safely. The middle part of the fan structure, with the switches and wiring harness on it could be designed a bit better by moving the transformers and wire bundles away from the attachment points to the structure above. As is, you have to fight the cables that are in close proximity to the mounting lug, and blindly put a screw through it to attach it. Included a clever balancing kit that I didn't seem to need, but will hang on to just in case the need arises later. It would also be nice if there was a way to distinguish the fan control chain from the light control chain.
Overall the fan was easy to install, with the exception of the light mounting plate. Wasn't too happy with the insulation materials used, like working with tin foil. Love, love, love the light fixture. The fan is silent on the lowest setting, and moves air very well.
Great air flow & bright light. As a non-do-it-yourselfer, I had a professional do the installation. He was in & out in under an hour. I had a double switch by the door (one for the ceiling fixture & one for a wall outlet.) He configured it so that one switch controls the light & the other the fan. I'm very noise-sensitive & this fan doesn't make a sound! My pro said that the wide base made the fan very stable resulting in no wobble.
I first purchased this fan in a smaller version for my bedroom and was overjoyed that it came out in a larger size so I could use it in the living room. Everyone comments on how lovely this fan is. My ceilings are not super-low, about 8'9", however even at that height a ceiling fan with a drop bar overwhelmed the room. Although it is hard-wired to a wall switch, I left the little dangling pull-chains because they are cute and a little retro. One of my favorite things about this fixture is the white glass shade which casts a pretty light.
