I use them on nightstands next to my guestroom bed. They each have two lights - turn on one of the bulbs for low light or both for reading - also lovely to look at! I've had many, many compliments.

Although this lamp is described for use in a country decor, my family room is more contemporary/transitional with a theatre-type microfiber sofa, a burgundy red leather club chair and a burgundy recliner complemented by an area rug and contemporary/transitional wall art using a mix of bronze/iron pieces, pictures, and a canvas on a wrought-iron hangar. I especially like the ease of the pull chains for the on/off function, and the leather shade is a good match for the alabaster globes on the torchiere lamp.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I have this lamp on a side table in my family room and it is very attractive. My problem has been that because the bulbs lay flat and not upright it has been a problem with seeing the bulbs while sitting next to this lamp. I have decided to replace this lamp and only purchase lamps with upright bulbs for this location, so think this before purchasing this lamp.

The lamp looks great on the end table in my family room. The base and shade complement the room nicely. Besides looking great, it's a nice hefty lamp that should last a long time.
If there is one drawback it might be that there are so many nooks and crannies that it might be a little difficult to dust.

A perfect compliment to the floor lamp I purchased and needed a similar lamp to match for the table in my area I was decorating. Wonderful craftsmanship at a fraction of the cost from a furniture store. Highly recommended.
