I use it in the corner next to the couch. The reading light of 40 Watt is not bright enough for reading unlike the 60 Watt.
I love the finish. The downside is that the top part of the pole seemed to tilt to one side after assembly.
I would recommend this lamp to friends and also warn them about the possibility of a tilting lamp when assembled.

Don't shop anywhere else. You won't find the quality or a better price. I have this lamp right next to my 'man chair' and it is great. I just reach up and turn on whatever light I want. When I have company over, I always receive compliments. It never fails. While cleaning, I knocked the lamp over and the top shade shattered into a million pieces when it hit the hardwood floor. I initially thought that I wouldn't be able to replace the shade. Well guess what? Not only did Lamps Plus carry the replacement shade but it was at a great price [...]. I live in an area where there aren't any Lamps Plus stores. I wish that they had stores here in the Pittsburgh area. Thank God for the Internet. I also purchased 2 table lamps to match the floor lamp. 2 different table lamps and they look great too. You can't go wrong.

This floor lamp works well in a family room setting. Its highest lamp illuminates indirectly. The 2 lower lamps are good for reading or doing hand work, such as stitching or knitting. The lamp is quite warm if it is close to you. Also, the knobs for on/off come off very easily and tend to get lost. Overall, this lamp worked very well for our needs.

We have this in the living room, and I like being able to turn on one, two, or all lights at once. I tend to read while the others watch t.v., so I curl up on the couch and use one light. I like that the side lamps are somewhat adjustable. I sometimes put on just one light when we go out...one little bulb on is better than all three for energy savings. If I grab the knobs in a hurry, they sometimes pop off but are easily just stuck back on. Otherwise, no complaints. It looks great with our antique decor.

Absolutely love this floor lamp. The illumination is great, and I like the fact that I can turn on one, two, or all three lamps. I also love the styling, it looks so elegant with out being overdone. It created a very warm look for an otherwise dark and uninteresting corner.

Purchased to go along side "The Big Chair" for reading. While it has nice styling and the small lamps are adjustable, they cannot be tightened enough where you cannot move the small moveable lanterns.

This is such a rich-looking lamp. It is bigger than I thought and very heavy, which I like. I love the glass "globe" and that it can be dimmed. It is so pretty for low-atmosphere lighting! But it can really light up the room too, when at full power. The reading lights are great too! But the best thing is that is LOOKS like a rich, expensive lamp! Perfect!
