Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

At first glance this table is really nice, and the metal parts are quality and well made. The problem is that the wooden top is nothing more than a circular cut out from a sheet of wooden wall paneling. You know that stuff your great uncle has on the wall of his den? Yeah, that stuff. It's flimsy in the extreme, and does not sit flat in the frame unless you reinforce it at the edges from underneath. It's thin and can't stand up to any real weight, so forget about putting anything remotely heavy on top of this. It's also coated with nothing more than a light varnish, so it's not going to hold up very well over time. As an accent object it's not bad, but I'd never recommend it as a functional end table.
