This is my second Holtkoetter lamp.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought my first, a desk version, years ago. It's great because it is good-looking,sturdy, but subtle, easy to use, very adjustable...serious light for reading, but dims which comes in handy...I can use it for reading, in the living room...or adjust the light to create a mood. It is expensive, but worth it. I looked for a less expensive floor lamp of the same type, but none could compare.

The lamp is primarily used for reading, however it makes a great piece of decor that will be enjoyed for many years if not generations! A nice lamp, but way pricey. Not sure why it needs to be as costly as it is. Price almost makes me feel buyer remorse. I purchased only because it fit my decor so well and worked well as illumination for sewing.
