I've had this desk lamp for over 10 yrs...ZERO issues until today (03/14/10). The lamp failed to light so I dismantled the bulb housing to replace the bulb and clean the accumulated dust out. (I didn't need to do that to replace the bulb...BTW). After cleaning it and inspecting the bulb, I found nothing wrong, so I put the bulb back in and...Voila!, it works again! Maybe for another 10 years! SOLID product!

This is a used as a lamp on the top of our bed. We have a built in headboard, and this is not only decorative but functional. I had another similar lamp that couldn't be fixed, so I was delighted to find this one as I like modern decorations.

Once you figure out how to change the bulb, it is a snap, but the glass does not want to stay on. The glass is only held by a small metal piece and once the glass falls, it will leave a dent on your wood desk so please do yourself a favor and buy one that has screws and a better bulb, 50 watts is not bright at all!!

I have read the other reviews and keep thinking, no offense meant, the others dont know how to change the bulb. While it isnt a screw in bulb, you simply remove a half ring metal retainer and the glass over the blulb then comes out. Pull the bulb out, put a new one in, lay the glass piece in, and snap the ring retainer back in. I think its called snap ring. You simply need a butter knife to do this. You dont need to take the whole assembly apart.
Either way, this is a great lamp. The base is very heavy and I am never worried about it falling over. We have three of them; one for the home computer desk, and two for our bedside tables.
The lamp is great as it has a 50watt bulb. Plus it has two setting, low and high. So the 50 watt bulb is useable for reading at night and then on high you can use it for many other things.
I love the look of the lamp, I think they are a great value for the money.

Here's the facts on this particular lamp. It looks great on a dest, etc.. I had one the same style in black. After five months, the lamp went out. The screws are very hard to remove. The housing comes apart in several pieces. Finding a replacement lamp is not easy. The unit I just brought, in silver, I had the same problem. The lamp was used on low level, for only two hours during the evening. It lasted, the bulb, four weeks. For a lamp costing over $100.00 plus tax, is not worth it. Why have a lamp, only for it's looks. Now, I have two beautiful lamps, in black & silver and none works. I would advise anyone seeing this type of lamp, do not stop or give away your money, this is a lemon. I only wished I could give a better reply, but it's not possible.
