The National Geographic Society has had a century long commitment to promoting natural conservation. Since 1888 they've inspired people to care about the planet. This highly efficient design comes from the National Geographic Preserve Our Planet collection and gives you two options for decreasing your energy consumption. The top solar panel powers four long-lasting (up to 50,000 hours) L.E.D. lights. Because the L.E.D. lights are lit automatically by a light-sensing unit, they offer dusk-to-dawn security light that is ideal for entry areas. When you need extra light, turn on the energy efficient CFL bulb. Please note that the CFL light requires hard-wired installation and is not solar powered. Black finish. Patent applied for.

I bought 2 to test out in Aruba. Very nice looking (albeit a tad bit smaller than what we had). The electronic hookup is a nice feature because the solar light is effectively about 10-20 watts worth of light. But, its free and its pretty good. By comparison to other products, I think this one is excellent.

I was a little hectic buying this product because of my many disappointments of solar lights. But this one changed my view completely. I currently have three in by back yard which was a total darkness but the solar lights illumination is more than enough. Since I had them I haven’t had the use to turn on the 4watt bulb because the solar LEDs are sufficient. Even my husband is impressed. Only problem was water came though the solar panel but they were replaced with no problem at all.

Put one next to each side door of the house. On solar gives just enough light to see where you're going; on electric gives plenty of light. Plan to get another when I build my porch! Why don't they make more of these?
