I love this floor lamp! It replaces a not-too-sturdy 'student lamp' from the '30's that my dad had in college. Loved it, but it fell over a lot. I have an "eclectic" style (meaning "lots of stuff from various relatives houses of all eras"), and this is perfect next to my comfy reading chair/recliner. It blends with the rest of my furnishings, and has a very heavy, sturdy base. Unlike the vintage lightweight (which I moved to the bedroom), this one isn't going anywhere! Easy to assemble; takes up to 150 watts. I guess to be totally perfect it would have a three-way socket, but I'm thrilled with it just the way it is!

The lamp shade was packed in styrofoam that was next to impossible to get out. I have those little balls all over the place. Despite that, the shade came out of the box in perfect condition. I just screwed the lamp together and it looks great. It is much sturdier than I expected and I love the swing arm that's small but reaches nicely over my loveseat when I read. Great lamp at an even better price.
