I bought this for a reading lamp. It looks great, has a nice high quality finish, and is good quality. It comes with a 40W bulb, but I also bought a 25W bulb which I like better(this lamp uses the G-9 style bulb). 40W is more than bright enough, I prefer a dimmer light. The 25W lamp also doesn't run as hot which I like better since the lamp is close-by for reading. But either would work fine. One thing that could be better would be if they designed the base for rotation. If you loosen the 3 set screws at the base it will rotate reasonably well but this leaves the lamp just a little wobbly but works decent enough. The other thing is that the UV shield kinda cups around the bulb which is probably more than adequate... I would have preferred a flat shield that has no gaps although any leakage would hit the reflector rather than escaping directly so its probably not an issue. Be careful when unpacking because I found two of the set screws loose in one of the plastic wrappings around the lamp(these are very small)... I assume these unscrewed during transit. Overall its a good lamp for the money... definitely worth the price.

Great looking and style. Base is compact and does not interfere with any decor style. Good reading light over a chair or side of couch. Great price.

I needed a reading lamp for my library that would complement a day bed located against one wall. This light turned out to be exactly what I wanted. Having a relatively small footprint I found the light to be very flexible and most compatible with the decor and its location next to the day bed. I also found it to be very easy on the eyes while reading and not excessively hot. All in all I'm very pleased.

I have a small den with two reading chairs in need of reading lamps. I purchased two of these floor lamps, which fill the need perfectly. However, keep in mind halogen bulbs can be quite warm.
