Used three in my hallway, updating from brass and glass fixtures. Hallway is not extra wide, and ceilings are standard height. These work great. Plenty of light too.

Use Reveal 100 lightbulbs if you want a brighter light. The glass casts an amber glow with a regular bulb.

pricey for quality, weak holding arm

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I put this fixture in my hallway. There is one spring loaded arm that allows you to remove the glass. While this is handy to remove the glass to change the bulb, the arm has weak holding power so the glass tilts down at this arm causing the glass bowl to be lopsided. Also, since the bulb is held vertical, you can not substitute in a compact fluorescent bulb as they are too large for the glass to fit. Only regular size bulbs can be used. I would not buy this fixture again. It is too pricey for what you get.
