Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I highly recommend this. Know that it is big. Thus, bold. My use, Chandelier. Best use enormous house as pendant. Short of that I enjoy this in a town home in dining room. Shape will augment torchieres. Coloring creates soft amber ambience. Important, put it on a dimmer and use Philips Endura LED 12.5 Watt 800 Lumen bulbs. Next choice is Litetronics 15 Watt 750 Lumen bulbs. See the expensive bulbs used as "appliances." The match with these bulbs is beautiful. The LED shadow effects are removed. The CFL shadow effects are visible only to the most picky and are still exemplary. Yes, you can indeed use the energy consuming and even brighter Incandescent bulbs. Although I do not, that too would be a match made in heaven. Color of light and time of day is very important to my state of mind. My desire was to create a subtle relaxing atmosphere. It does this very well. The other requirement was to have light shine down. The shade acts as a sort of lens and very much disperses the light with a nice hue downwards. Speaking of the lens/shade. This is a place where the glass is thinner than I expected for the price and is susceptible theoretically to breakage. I have torchiere lamps that are much thicker glass, which instills confidence. On the other hand, it is doubtful, once hung correctly that no one should be fiddling with the shade. I do not have young children, but if you are the anxious type and do, I would use this in the out of reach pendant application first and consider your child's behavior before I would put this over the dining room table due to the thin glass. All of this said, I consider this after assembled and mounted to both perform as a nice ambient piece and be highly functional. If you like this and want a touch of character, but not too much, then I think this is for you and would fit into many decors or settings. 4 stars given (4 and 1/2 stars) only due to some close calls on assembly with areas that were nearly out of tolerance (and just a little not completely thought out), but the design makes such issues not overly important and is very secure as a whole, once assembled.
