I bought two of these for a counter height breakfast bar in my newly remodeled kitchen. I went shopping for bar stools, hoping for one of those fancy space-age looking contemporary designs. What I found is that appearance and comfort do not go hand in hand. I "sat-tested" stools of every shape and size and what I found is that the most comfortable and flexible stool is a rectangular backless one just like this. It doesn't visually separate the room like a high backed stool - you can tuck it out of the way completely beneath the counter overhang. You can sit on it front-ways, backwards or on the corner. Your feet are supported all around, not just on the front. The seat cushion is firm enough, but soft and comfortable and if it falls over, it doesn't damage the floor. A perfect choice, and the price is lower than I expected to pay when I went looking for bar stools.
