Beautiful,Simple but elegant
Of course you already think it looks nice that's why you are reading this... What you need to know is that the photocell on the light isn't all it is cracked up to be. Ours sits in our partially shaded NW facing porch and turns on at sunset but often does not turn off untill late in the morning or even afternoon. If it is a cloudy day it can stay longer than off. Granted it is flourescent it is still a waste and looks silly. The light went out out after less than a year and after trying several 4-pin bulbs, which are not cheap, I determined the the ballast had gone bad. I was unable to find any places that sold them online. Fortunately. Lamps+ is in the process of sending me a no hassle replacement (very good CS). I would go for a regular light with a wall/switch timer and a twisty bulb.
I like this nice simple design that hints at Mission or craftsmen style but is so much more simple and therefore modern.
The original ballast lasted less than six months. The replacement ballast was deemed to be a warranty item [...] I could find no local sourcing for the ballast. Since it is preferable to install new lamps with new ballasts I was surprised that the replacement lamp was available but the cost was over $20.00.
We like the look a lot. The fact that the light is photosensitive means that we can leave in the daytime and turn it on but it will only go on when it gets dark, not advertising that we are away all day.
