We purchased 2 of these. One is on a large lamp post along the front walkway. It looks excellent! The other is on the recommended short black base and is on a brick fence post leading to out to the backyard. They are beautiful. One disadvantage, placing the black post on a red non-smooth brick- there are small gaps around the entire base where moisture could get in. We caulked around that area (with black) It was tough to keep the caulking real straight. It looks fine, but I know it's not exactly straight.
