Elegant but incredibly frustrating

Stylish and made of high-grade materials. The factory assembly of the base & shaft almost made me return the lamp, however. The "swing arm" has no counter-balance so the very heavy upper portion of the lamp causes the entire lamp to lean. I knew I could cure this by simply tightening the nut on the underside of the lamp's base. However, there are few tools that most people own that can grip the nut well enough to tighten it to the point the shaft will be perpendicular to the base. This is due to the fact that the nut sits in a deep recess. I fought this nut for almost the entire 30-day return period thinking I'd finally get it tight enough. Luckily, I had purchased another lamp that came in shortly before the return period ended that included a special curved wrench for assemblage of its own base that I was able to use on this lamp. Now, it stands straight and is really quite stunning. I would only recommend this if: 1) You're not as obsessive-compulsive as I and a leaning lamp won't bother you or 2) you're willing to work, spend some time at a home improvement store looking for the right tool, and possibly enlist the help of another to make it stand truly upright.

The lamp seems off balance - leans forward a little - otherwise very attractive and useful for reading chair - direct overhead lighting or side lighting. Two bulbs - three way lighting

Service & Delivery comments:

Had to return one of two lamps that was damaged - Customer service was excellent - I was able to order a replacement lamp with no extra cost to me.
