This light replaced a Tiffany style fixture 20" across and 15" high which hung down from the ceiling and was about 30" above a dining room table. The fixture almost exactly matched the light in a ceiling fan that I have in an adjacent living room area. To me, it is a more modern look, and mimics the look of recessed lighting which is more in style now. It also really gave the space a much more open look. I installed two 26w GE, soft white (2700K), 1750 lumens, helical bulbs, each of which is the equivalent of 100 watts. This gave a really bright look of soft light to the area.
