I ordered two of these lights for bedrooms in the old house we bought and remodeled. One appealing feature of these lights is that the fixture takes 3 100-watt light bulbs, which provides good light for an entire bedroom. I liked these so much, that I bought a 3rd for a bedroom whose light I had originally decided to keep. The clean design and better light value of this Lamps Plus fixture convinced me to replace the old fixture.
The reviews are right on. This light is definitely a 2 person job to hold in place while installing the cover (globe). However, we wanted an updated light in kitchen that also provided plenty of light. We placed 3, 100 watt (23 w) fluorescent. Special note: as yet, we have not had to replace a bulb. It will take 2 of us to hold cover and replace bulb and/or clean.
Two years ago we purchased this light for our kitchen as I wanted something nice and bright. This was one of the few ceiling lights I could find that takes three 100 watt bulbs and fortunately it looked great, too. We bought the one for our kitchen and liked it so much that we came back a year later and bought two more, one for our master bedroom and another for the master bathroom. Now just recently, we bought three more for an office and two upstairs bedrooms. Each time it was to either replace a hideous ceiling light or ceiling fan left by the previous homeowners, and each time it was a huge upgrade in appearance and brightness. If I had to list two minor "cons" with this fixture, it would be that it is quite pricey and changing the bulbs is a little tricky. But overall, I highly recommend. The three 100 watt bulbs capability is fantastic.
We wanted lights that didn't compete with our "show stoppers" and that worked with others In our house. These work well in our long one-level hallway.
This light looks great over the table in our eat-in kitchen. I really like the understated styling, and we wanted something semi-flushmounted so that we could use LED bulbs. The works fantastic with the Philips L-prize bulbs. The diffuser is opaque enough that we don't see the odd color when the bulbs are off, and it reflects light off the white ceiling to give plenty of light for the whole area. We also wanted the low profile since we sometimes move the table for parties and needed to be able to easily walk under the fixture. As others have noted, it is a little tricky to install the shade. That's definitely a two person job. The other suggestion I have are to make sure you have rotated the base where the bulbs screw in so that the bulbs are clear of the three supports. This really helps in changing or installing the bulbs without taking the shade off. I also had a slight problem that our ceiling isn't exactly level, and this definitely showed when I first installed the light. I had to un-install the fixture and level the junction box to make sure that the fixture would be level. This was a little inconvenient because of the shade. It's not the fault of the fixture, but I wish I had thought to check this before completing the installation the first time. Now that it's up, we're really happy with it, and with the LED bulbs, I don't intend to touch it for the next 20 years or so!
I absolutely loved this light fixture. Although after 6 months, 2 of the light sockets quit working. I now need to replace it and don't know if I should take a chance and order the same one or find something different. Did I buy a lemon?
I replaced an old light in the foyer of our new home. This lamp changed the character of the entryway in a good way!
Great amount of light comes through to brighten up any room. It takes four hands to attach the glass to the fixture.
2 used to light a large rec room
Put this fixture in a bedroom about 11' x 12' and it was just the right size. The light is brighter than the old 3-bulb fixture, even though I used 60W bulbs instead of 100W bulbs. Diffused light was perfect for the bedroom.
Meets our goal for brighter lighting in our casual dining area. Attractive, not-too-busy style that suits the setting.
Putting washers on upside down screws then sliding globe up onto it and attaching little round finials takes more than one set of hands! We used this over an island in the kitchen and it lights the room with 3 100wt bulbs -- just what we needed.
This has a great look that blends with many styles. I love the clean and contemporary look.
This fixture looks very elegant in a guest room and a piano room. Although it can take 3 100-W bulbs, I'm using 75W and there's plenty of light.
