A nice Slim, Sturdy Lamp

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This lamp is perfect for a small space and does a great job of minor illumination for a whole room. I have a Large living room and was replacing an old 300 Watt Halogen (which are not available anymore). This lamp in a dark corner PLUS another (different) lamp behind the couch made a perfect pair for me. This gives a nice indirect light to a room, but you definitely want to add a reading or other lamp if you need any "bright" areas. Construction, style and price point were all Fantastic!
