I actually didn't realize the shade was plastic until I'd gotten it home from Dallas (I live in Oklahoma). It was a bit of an impulse buy, and I might not have chosen it if I'd known it wasn't glass, but I decided to keep it cause I love it. May be a bit of a dust catcher, but it sets off my bedroom so well. It really makes the room. Good amount of light too.
