We like the lamp, and it fits in with our new contemporary bathroom. It works really well with the dimmer switch we installed. At lowest level, it's a great night light. At brightest, it's bright enough for putting on makeup. I tried lower wattage bulbs but went back to the recommended watts. The back plate went on easily, but the tiny parts for assembling the glass to the fixture make it very difficult to put together. It requires four hands to do it safely.
