I've owned this lamp for nearly 8 years now. It's rock solid, well designed, an excellent value. Not to mention nicely done design.
This is a reading light for sure, it will illuminate a dark corner nicely and the footprint is pretty small. it has a two way switch and the arm holds its set very well.
The only con to this lamp is the small clips they built into the shade to hold the protective glass are not strong and broke within a couple of years (I've only changed the bulb once in all this time of regular use). We left the glass off and it's just fine without it.
Thinking about buying another, how I came across this add.

I received this lamp yesterday, so can only give initial impressions, which are as follows: Both the shade AND the handle to move it get very hot, very fast. If you want to move the angle of direction for the lamp head itself after you've turned the light on, better have an oven mitt handy. It's literally untouchable after just 5 minutes.
The lamp otherwise can be moved in different directions, but easier to do that before you're actually using it instead of trying to move it from your chair while reading or whatever. If you want a lamp where you can frequently change its position, this isn't a great choice. It's more suited to finding a position you like, and leaving it there, only rarely making changes.
The finish is a bit cheap, and some paint already chipped off, which is annoying. Base seems a tad unstable, or maybe my floor is crooked. (Both could be true).
The lamp does look nice, and most importantly, the high setting is very bright for the limited area it illuminates. I can't understand how anyone could say it's not bright enough to read by when it's on high -- it's more than bright enough, so ignore those who say otherwise. They must be blind. That said, the low setting is very dim, virtually impossible to read by, and really only useful as very low mood lighting.
So there you have it. The lamp has it's pros and cons -- including it's high cost -- so it's up to you.

I just received this lamp and it looks great. Sadly, it produces very little light. As a reading light, it is virtually useless. Moreover, it gets incredibly hot (for producing such little light). So while it is pretty to admire, it has no real function other than decoration. Sadly, I guess I'll have to return it so I don't go blind.

This lamp excels in looks, compact size, and just the right light for reading (two settings).
But it's difficult to keep the adjustable arm in place. It also never goes on sale so had to pay full price.
But I'm still satisfied with it.

I have owned this lamp for more than 10 years. It has survived several moves, cats, children and me. I am just now considering whether to purchase a new one or repair the old. One of the metal prongs holding the cover glass in place has broken and no longer supports the glass. I am not even considering looking for another lamp.

This is a quality crafted lamp. All parts are very nicely crafted and finish. All the parts move as they are supposed to with precision and lock where you want them to without wobble. I love this beautiful lamp. I use it as a reading lamp but, there is just one thing I wish were different to make it more functional. The amber glass cover, although beautiful, tinges the light that is being projected a slightly amber color that tends to diminish the general illumination. If there were some sort of reflector just behind the bulb it would not take away from its beauty while projecting a stronger illumination or, if the bulb were stronger it might fix this problem. The Lamp itself however, is beautiful and adequate as a reading lamp.

They are lightweight (ez to rearrange), pretty, and efficient without taking up a lot of space or looking bulky. I'd like it a lot better if the glass coverplate in the shade were secure; as it is, it rattles if you move the shade.

I needed a reading light for next to a daybed in my daughters room that would give good reading light but not illuminate the entire room. This light fit the bill! The light looks much more expensive than it is. The fixture is more dainty than hefty, so if you are looking for mass, this is not the fixture. The flexible arm is a fabulous feature.
