The stand and stem are very sturdy, and on the whole the lamp looks good, unless you are detail-oriented. There are some issues. 1. The instructions are missing a step: you are left with about 24" of extra cord between the parts of the lamp [B, C and D in assembly instructions] that must be screwed together to make the stem - what to do with it? Nothing in the instructions. I bent the cord over itself and fed it with difficulty into the tubes [B, C], but it was a very tight fit, and hard to do. I am also worried it will damage the wiring. 2. The protective sticky paper that covers both sides of the diffuser is difficult to remove. You have to scratch at it till one piece lifts and then pull, but it tears very easily. It took me 45 minutes to remove. Super frustrating. 3. The diffuser does not fit flush with the bottom of the shade, so that when the lamp in illuminated you can see a shadow of the edge of the diffuser. There is no way to correct this. 4. When the lamp is assembled and the arm and shade are facing into the room, the cord on the base of the lamp is also facing out (it would be better on the opposite side). The cord with plug is also short - you need a socket nearby. 5. There are a few very small spots of dirt on the shade that cannot be removed. If these issues could be corrected the lamp would be a very good buy.Images/Videos shared by: The Reader
I replaced yet another cheap little Ikea floor lamp in my living room by my kid's little oak drawing table. This thing is much larger than I thought but, oddly, makes the space seem all the much bigger for it with the sweeping arc. It throws out a lot of light and I like that there's two bulbs if you want to adjust the amount. I assembled it myself and carried it upstairs and noted that it is very bulky and much heavier than it looks. The red lamp shade is beautiful. I am having a problem with one of the light bulbs not working but am sure that Lamps Plus will have no problem exchanging it. I've just been putting it off because I don't want to assemble and lug it again...
We just received this lamp and will use it behind a sectional sofa. Great size and well built. The on/off switch is easy to reach from the sofa (midway up the pole). Well designed and very, very sturdy!
