This is a beautiful art deco piece fashioned after a vase designed by Frank Lloyd Wright that is displayed in one of his houses in Springfield, IL. The piece comes with an interesting printed history of the vase and its manufacturing; its something to keep. We have gone with an art deco style in our family room, so this is a perfect accent piece. Haeger pottery is one of the older pottery manufacturers in America, so you are purchasing a piece of American pottery heritage. This piece is very substantial at almost 14" tall. It has a flat not glossy glaze. The glaze used makes it a usable vase for flowers, but for me, I would not take away the art deco style with flowers. It has felt "dots" on the bottom, so it is ready to display on wood or glass without scratching your furniture. We purchased the sumac color, and it adds a very warm hue to a room. We have a son living in central Illinois, and I'm thinking of giving him one as he loves Wright's architecture. I know our family will enjoy this piece for a long time, and we look forward to passing this vase down to our children. [...]
