Holtkoetter torchiere floor lamps are a marvel of German-made engineering and design. The self-proclaimed Ultimate Lighting Machines™, these lamps make great reading lights. This breathtaking design features a top light with an adjustable sidearm. A tilt switch turns the lamp off if it's knocked over, and a special dimmer allows you to adjust the light levels from romantic hues all the way up to daylight-like brightness. Solid brass construction with an olde bronze finish.

I use this lamp next to a sofa in the living room where there is insufficient light for reading (no ceiling lights). I love the ease of turning on and off and the dimming capability of both the reading light and the torchiere. I also like that it is heavy enough to provide stability and yet sleek-looking. The cons are that the metal surround of the reading light makes a slight clicking sound when heating and that the lamp is relatively expensive.
