We needed two reading lights over our bed and chose this after reading a review. I would have preferred a cone shape with a more dispersed light, but did not find one I liked. We substituted LED bulbs to make it cooler and to provide a more natural light. The clerk did not tell us that the glass cover will not fit over the LED bulb, but now that we know it doesn't bother us. The dimmer switch he sold us did not work out as the light continually flickered, but we are still satisfied with our purchase.

These lamps make great accent lights--the head is adjustable so that you can angle the light to bounce off the walls.. I also find them particularly well suited for reading books and magazines. In a large room, such as a living room, a track light with multiple duplicates of this lamp can accent parts of the room, provide excellent reading ligth just where you want it, and set the mood, especially with a digital rheostat wall switch that lets you adjust the amount of illumination very precisely.
