I'm tired of tightening
By cate from Alabama on 5/8/2014
Pros:
Area of Illumination, Artistic Design
Best Uses:
Living Room

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have owned this lamp for over a year and it wears me out. I have to constantly screw the poles together, so it does not sway, but it is a losing battle. As another customer said, the pole of the lamp is too tall for the size of the base. The lamp sways and leans and is not straight unless I work at it. Then, in a day or two, it is leaning again. I should have sent it back when I first received it, but thought I could work on it until it stood straight--found out that was not possible. I really need a lamp like this that tightens and does not sway, but I am afraid to order another lamp of this brand.

The lamp is perfect for my use. It lights more than one area. I can shut off the lights that I am not using, thereby saving wattage.

Strange design
By DH from San Francisco, CA on 3/16/2014
Pros:
Area of Illumination, Sturdy, Easy Assembly
Cons:
Side Lamps Face Opposite
Best Uses:
Dark Corners, Reading
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The two side lamps on this torchiere face in opposite directions. I keep this lamp against a wall, so one of the side lamps faces out to the room, where it is useful, and the other side lamp faces the wall, where it is not useful. A better design would be for both lamps to be able to face into the room. Also, the dimmer causes a traditional light bulb to hum when using the dimmer. A rough service light bulb helps in reducing (though not eliminating) the humming. Other than these two problems, the lamp is stylish, sturdy, and easy to assemble. The 150 watt blub in the main lamp is good for lighting up the entire room.

Not a good buy

This lamp cannot be assembled to be tightened enough not to sway back and forth. I have to keep adjusting it, so it is not askew. It gets old. I think the design is flawed. It is too tall to be supported by the base.

Can't handle 150 watts
By CAK Verified Purchaser from Port Hueneme, CA on 2/17/2012
Pros:
Artistic Design, Sturdy, Area of Illumination, Good Size
Best Uses:
Reading, Living Room, Decoration
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use for illumination in a corner, and the lower lights are for task illumination depending on where I sit. I like the dimmer adjustment for the upper lamp; however, when I turn it up to the highest setting the upper lamp shuts off. Since it is bright enough, it is not worth the hassle to return it.

Located in living room for general lighting, but I use separately for reading. Would like darker or solid shades that don't see light through shade itself.
