These lights are beautiful for low-to -medium-level ambient light. I have a dimmable fluorescent bulb in mine, and it still looks gorgeous. I love the shadows it makes on the ceiling around the perforated metal part. A perfect choice for a Spanish colonial home. The glass is pretty thick, though, so this would not be a good choice if you are looking for a lot of light.
