I bought 2, and they look great mounted at the head of our bed. The swing arms are made of quality steel. Yes, the cord seemed a bit too much. But better too much than too little. I used a drill bit 1/16th less than called for. Drill the hole fast and even, and carefully tap the anchor in straight (no angle) and not quite all the way in. Start all the screws by hand first, then use your screwdriver and then tap the fixture plate back against the wall. Tighten all four screws snuggly (DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!) AND THEN STEP BACK AND ENJOY YOUR NEW LIGHTS!

The lamp is just slightly off-white and the shade a little darker. The cord is white and about 5 feet long. It's a thicker, round cord with a 3-prong grounded plug. Maybe a bit much for a plug-in wall lamp? It looks OK though. The quality seems good. The switch works fine and the lamp is easy to move into any position. Nothing feels loose or flimsy. The lamp mounts very securely to the rear mounting plate. No tilting when moving the lamp into different positions. There are many holes and slots provided for mounting the back plate to the wall. But, using 2 or 3 of them should be all that's required. Definitely put a screw near the top, or the weight of the lamp will flex the thin plate away from the wall. I do not recommend using the cheapo "wall anchors" included for mounting in drywall. They do not expand and hold tighter as a wall anchor should when a screw is inserted. One of mine started turning in the hole while I was tightening the screw, making the hole too big. I was able to fix things using standard plastic wall anchors instead.

Not well made

Pros:
Provides good light, Looks Nice, Shade is nice
Cons:
Installation is a pain, Arm is stiff, Knob does not work well
Best Uses:
Office, Living room reading area, Bedroom - by bed
Bottom Line:

This lamp is great to mount on a wall where you need light for reading. I use it in the living room by a chair, over the desk in my office, and beside my bed for nighttime reading. The maximum wattage bulb is too dim to be able to use this for anything but the immediate vicinity of where you are (not good for area lighting). The swing arm and the on/off knob are very tight and hard to use. This is OK if you put it in one place and leave it, or if you plug it into an outlet that is operated by a wall switch. I had to use a rubber jar opener to be able to use the knob. Installation is easy enough but the design of the mounting plate is poorly planned. There are several holes for screws to mount it on the wall, but if you have to use anchors, then the screws are all crowded next to each other and you end up with one big giant hole instead of three small ones if you decide to take it down. Think hard before you mount it on the wall!
