Purchased as a living room end table lamp. We didn't need overall lighting of an area, but wanted it more for accent lighting. This is important to know before buying that he shade is opaque so no light comes through it only up and down, casting a "torchere" kind of look. The base is amazing to see. We now leave the lamp on in the room just for effect when not utilizing the room. GORGEOUS. The night light bulbs housed within the marble need to be changed by unscrewing the base. Worth the extra trouble for the beautiful effect. If I wanted a lamp that I could read by, it would not be this lamp, but for accent lighting - gorgeous!

There are three new lamps in my family room . Two of them have a added light in the base I use as night lights,and they are BEAUTIFULL. They are GREAT and there is NOTHING I don't like about them.

Love this lamp in our family room. Only thing is is that the socket where you turn the lamp on/off is loose & can't get it tightened ;-{ Don't want to return it as it is too heavy to carry though as well as you might not have another one.
