Bottom Line:

I purchased this to replace my old porch light with something that better fit the design/style of the house. The light looks great during the day and at night. I first tried a white CFL bulb inside, but found that the glass actually let too much light through, causing quite a bit of glare. I replaced the white CFL with a yellow CFL "bug light". This remedied the problem, and had the added benefit of keeping insects from swarming around the fixture. Plus, I think the yellow light coming from the fixture gives it a more "craftsman" feel. I did have a few issues changing the bulb. The bottom of the light has a pane of glass which must be lifted and manipulated to be removed so that the bulb can be changed. I often had difficulty inserting and removing this piece of glass, though I do feel secure that it won't easily slip out due to wind or being bumped.
