I have been looking for years for just the right lamp and I have finally found it! We have over-sized couches and it has always been difficult to find just the right table lamp with a good height so that it does not get swallowed up by the couches. This is perfect. I bought this to replace a mercury glass lamp. It sure is sturdy! It's a great height, so it has a lot of throw; really lights up the space. It looks great, very graceful, on the end table near the sofa. Since the base is reflective, it seems even brighter than my other lamps. I am using a different shade on it, a gold foil lined drum, and the base picks up the lining color beautifully. It's an excellent replacement for the glass lamp, and it won't be shattered by my 3 year old!
