Not the color I expected.

According to the on-line description and picture, I expected the lamp base to look more earthy with "brown" tones as suggested. I also thought that the base would be heavy, thick glass. The lamp is very much silver-toned with a light-weight mercury glass base with a very reflective, mirror quality. The lamps have a simple, sophisticated, modern appeal and luckily the color still works with our new bedroom paint and bedding colors. The lamp shades create a nice tempered light, but the wattage goes up to 150, so there is still plenty of light--creates a nice ambience in the bedroom. We have two of these for the nightstands on either side of the bed. Only complaint would be a defect in one of the lamp shades, where the stitching from the hem of the shade extends into the main part. I was a little surprised to find this defect, since the lamps were very expensive and I expected the highest quality.
