Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
After finding this lamp, I continued to shop for similar styled lamps. The look was great and unique - unique enough that I couldn't find anything similar anywhere else. A week later, I made the decision to buy.
What was important to me was style, quality and height. I hadn't even considered assembly, but it turns out that was what became the most important on the day of delivery. I'm a bit handicapped (lung disease), but this would be a struggle for many people. It took me nearly 30 minutes and nervousness that I would damage something, but I finally got it together. Now there is a lingering fear that I didn't get the tubes screwed securely enough.
Once the lamp was positioned and the bulb screwed in, I got a sinking feeling that it was not 60" tall, as described. I put a tape measure to it and my disappointment grew - this lamp is only 55" tall. That's nearly a half foot under the advertised size. The shade is as advertised (I got the plain white). The difference is in the tube and threaded rod.
This is a beautiful lamp. I was glad there were so many colors to choose from and I spent considerable time selecting just the right one. I have a good monitor and video card, so the colors on the website appear to be very accurate in real life - mine is Rosemary Green, just as is shown in the pictures. It also appears to be made of very good quality materials. It's an exceptional value.
Had this lamp arrived assembled (I don't know why it wasn't) and was advertised at its true height of 55", I would have happily given it a 5-star rating. The height deception and not even a mention that some assembly was required resulted in only 3 stars. But if you can live with the assembly and height, you'll get a very nice lamp.
Lamps Plus Response:
Hello Jim - thank you for your comment. We think you've installed the uno shade upside down. The uno ring on the shade can be set on the base two ways, one of which will result in the shade sitting on the base differently, and lowering the overall height to 55-inches. Try flipping the shade around and see if that does the trick. One of our Lighting Associates is going to contact you to see if this resolves the problem. This was great feedback and we will incorporate it into our next round of product instructions. Thank you! The Lamps Plus Team
