Area of Illumination, Easy Assembly, Good Size, Sturdy
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Everything about this lamp is convenient. With all bulbs lit it gives off enough light to brightly illuminate a small room, 450 total watts. The pull cords eliminate the fumbling under the shade to reach the switches. The lamp is heavy, sturdy, and feels well made. The bulb sockets are porcelain. The height is easily and infinitely adjustable. I have made it a fairly tall lamp raised just to the point that the shade still protects from glare when seated. The shade is a speciality item, and a replacement would probably have to be purchased from Holtcotter. For extra safety it attaches with a security ring that probably would prevent the bulbs from touching the shade and starting a fire even if a lit lamp fell over and was left lying on the floor, unlikely as the base is very heavy. The heavy, dangling pull cords feel nice to touch and use but give the lamp a goofy llook. Every other feature is sleek.Assembly is just screwing the glass globe and shade onto the lamp, nicely machined and smoothly completed. There is a seam in the paper shade, so be sure that the seam is at the back where the cord comes out of the lamp. I bought this lamp through [@]from [@] for about 15% less and quick delivery.
