Was disappointed that the base was so big, but the lamp is over all attractive.However when I got myself settled with it shining on my book, the illumination was not the best although it is supposedly a 100 watt halogen.Then it went off. I wiggled the switch and it went on, would go off at will. So back it went. [...]

Nice desk lamp with a dimmer switch right on the base. There's a piece covered with plastic (I think it must get hot, as the halogen lamp definitely puts off heat) that looks a bit odd.

I wanted a reading light for the bedroom. The combination of a 100 watt halogen bulb and a full-range dimmer allows me to adjust the light output to meet any of my needs. Also, the arm swivels and can be adjusted. To date I have not found any reason to regret this purchase.

The inexpensive halogen lights I previously used were OK considring the low prices paid but some were awkward to adjust, were apt to break at the adjusting points and most had no continuous dimmer. This unit is much more substantial and fits in much better with my computer desks. I recommend it to anyone willing to pay the price for elegant design and excellent construction and finish.
