This light is hung in the middle of my fireplace/gathering room. Thank goodness the old, ugly fan is GONE! I bought this light not knowing exactly where it would end up. It would have worked equally well hanging in my one story foyer, the powder room, or over a bed. I would not use it as an over the kitchen table light, it hugs the ceiling. The quality is great, it takes about 30 minutes to assemble the pinwheels on, the tools are included and the directions are easy. My favorite part is the super cool pattern this light casts across the ceiling. If you don't need a ceiling fan over your bed, this would be an amazing light to put on a dimmer and admire. Also- my neighbor purchcased the big round ball version of this exact light. It is gigantic and a real stunner! Her chandlier hangs in a large 2 story foyer and is the focal point of a totally modern home. I did not have the ceiling height to carry off the big ball, so the half-dome shape of the flush mount was perfect...LOVE IT!

A different and very distinctive ceiling lamp. It requires assembly of the individual mini metal pinwheels (not hard) using a supplied allen type wrench tool to tighten a small set screw onto rods that are inserted into the center fixture. When finally assembled it looks like a floral bouquet albeit of pinwheels and not flowers. The bulbs are hidden within the overlapping pinwheels and their light is diffused and reflected by them. Installation and future changing of bulbs requires removing at least one pinwheel for hand access to the fixture connections and sockets. A beautiful , large, and very different and distinctive ceiling lamp.
