I like the way they look in my bedroom and I can read in bed now. The only problem was the dimmer switch causes Compact fluorescent bulbs to hum and flicker. So I had to use incandescent.

The lamp arrived okay and was easily installed but I use CFL bulbs to save energy and money and this lamp which has a dimmer type switch flickers constantly and can only be used with the highest brightness or the flickering is intolerable. My problem was when I ordered the matching cord cover and it arrived in an enormous box stuffed and stuffed with inflated plastic bags. This item would have easily fit into a padded envelope and I was stunned at the waste.

Lamps Plus Response: Hi there "Contrary" -- Thanks for your feedback regarding this wall lamp. A standard CFL should not be used with any lamp that has a dimmer. This is a fire hazard. You need a dimmable CFL (or LED) bulb in order to take advantage of energy efficiency and the dimming feature. See sku# 35215 for a good option. finial screw too short, so wood cap couldn't be installed. Looks okay, though not as shown, but could be better.

Swing arm is very useful. glass is attractive and provides warm light even w/ CFL. Works well near beds, by reading/needlework chairs. Fits well with many decors, including traditonal, arts & crafts, mission, rustic, etc.

I love how this lamp looks. Beautiful. BUT, this one, like another arm lamp I got from Lamps Plus, makes a noise when on. It is a humming, buzzing low sound. It does not bother me but my son asked me to change it. I told him to wear ear plugs to read by the lamp. He does and all seems fine.
