This is NOT a swing arm lamp. It is a fixed wall lamp, more like a sconce. I liked the look and design, but it would only be good for ambiance or an accent light, NOT for reading. The "brilliant" manufacturer also stuck a giant warning label on the front of the fixture base about the light bulb sizing - which peels off the finish when you remove it. NOT very smart! It's a shame this isn't an actual moving swing arm lamp as it would have been such an attractive addition to my home. Sending it back. Other sites sell it significantly cheaper WITH the cord cover included.
