A light mica shade brings natural flair to this contemporary brown metal table lamp. Designed by Franklin Iron Works, this chamming lamp design features flowing scroll accents over the mica shade. The body is also made of scrolls, resulting in a floral look of flowing stems and vines.

What is mica?

BEST ANSWER: the shade is a very interesting thin, semitransparent, shell like material (stiff) with tension like a drum if you flick it. Lamp is beautiful. Love it!
Can the mica shade be gently washed in water?

Lovely??
I searched Lamps Plus and other sites—looking for a lamp for my foyer. I love the “view in your room” feature and did it for a ton of lamps. I finally decided on this one...since the swirls in the base are similar to the swirls in the picture collage. I was hesitant because there were no reviews, but a lot of reviewers seemed to like Franklin Iron Works lamps, so I decided to take a chance. I am very happy with the lamp! I like that the base is NOT resin and the lamp isn’t flimsy, but substantial. The base swirls are wider in real life than they appeared on the Lamps Plus site and I’m glad. I was concerned the lamp might tip over easily if bumped, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Making a Statement
This lamp provided the perfect dramatic look to our guest bedroom along with our purchase of a floor lamp from Franklin Iron Works with a Mica shade. This lamp has weight to it which I prefer and provides a wow factor. I would definitely recommend this lamp
