What's the proper height of a pendant lamp if I'm hanging it over a bathroom sink vessel?

BEST ANSWER: Typically pendants should be placed 28 to 34 inches above the countertop, or 72 inches above the floor. However, a pendant light above a sink vessel is essentially a task light, designed to shed light on the project at hand: washing, cleaning and prepping. A height of 30 to 40 inches above the sink allows the pendant to shed ample light down over the sink without getting in the way of those using the sink. Another important factor to consider is the height of the people using the sink and mirror in the bathroom. You do not want to hang the pendant so low as to obstruct your view of the mirror.
Would it be feasible to use this light in a powder room? If so, can the downstems be shortened if necessary?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, this fixture is damp located rated. The fixture is adjustable and comes with one 6", two 12", and one 18" downstems.
