I love the shape and the area for filling is quite adequate. I filled it with seashells I got at the beach in Florida, and gave it to my grandaughter who lives in New Hampshire. Though I love the lamp, it doesn't really illuminate very well at all - more for decorative purposes.

Transparent Chameleon

The basic clean, crisp lines of this contemporary styled lamp belie its chameleon qualities. I have this lamp in a bathroom now on the counter filled with beach glass, but I have also had it filled with marbles on our kitchen counter! What I did to enhance the way I use it is to change out the shades to match other elements in the room. For instance, I had a turquoise silk shantung shade made to pull the color of my turquoise bathroom tile floor up onto the counter. It is filled now with pieces of mostly clear beach glass, but there are some bits of aqua glass inside too. When I used this lamp on our kitchen counter, I painted the shade with marbles- done with acrylics. The filling up of this versatile lamp base offers myriad possibilites, but you can easily enhance your decor with playing up different shades in your colors, as well. Don't be afraid to experiment!

I use this lamp not only for lighting but to enhance to theme of my parties, decor, etc. The uses are endless. This is a beautiful lamp. In the summer I fill it with sand and seashells, in the fall I fill it with acorns and colorful fall leaves, in the winter it is filled with small leafless branches and wintery objects. I could go on and on. If I have a party witha specific theme I fill it with objects to reflect that.

These lamps are unusual, reasonably priced and will fit in with contemporary/transitional designed rooms. The ability to fill with colour makes them very flexible.
